About Us
Historically, a bowling club. On the 12 June, 2012 the Constitution was updated and the club re-registered with the name Stanley Bowling & Petanque Club Inc.

On the 22 June, 2024 it was formerly announced at the Club AGM bowls would cease due to an increasing decline in bowling membership. On 3rd August, 2024 a Special General Meeting was held to vote to change the name to Stanley Bay Petanque Club Inc. to continue to actively promote Petanque and other social activities to the community. The vote was unanimously upheld.
At the end of June 2024 a major clubroom redecoration took place. Three and a half months later and some 1000 volunteer hours stage one of the transformation is finished!

The Club then celebrated its official “re-opening” as the Stanley Bay Petanque Club on 30 November, 2024. A great turn out by our members to mark this significant occasion as the Charles and Jean Parley Lounge is also opened acknowledging the efforts of two club members who have generously supported the Club for so many years.

Stage Two saw the conversion of the redundant bowling green into 18 international sized pistes to allow us to hold both national and international tournaments. It took 3 months involving hundreds of volunteer hours by club members.

Urban Ngahere (Forest Strategy)
Auckland's urban Ngahere (Forest) strategy addresses "how we can protect what we value in the face of a growing and urbanising population, rising inequality, and the major impacts of invasive pests and climate change".

In August 2021, with a lot of help and support from Restoring Takarunga Hauraki (RTH) Club members were urged to propagate and look after small seedlings ready for planting in winter. Over 200 seedlings were first planted. These were looked after through the summer months by surrounding them with sacking (thanks to Chiasso coffee roasters) and lots of mulch. Again with the help of RTH another 250 seedlings were later planted and the site continues to be maintained with the assistance of club members and RTH.

The Club is actively involved in eradicating pests on the Stanley Point peninsula with 15 rat traps laid on the grounds and a total of 150 on the point. Several of our Club members volunteer their time to regularly check all of these traps.
